Transforming Conflict Into Collaboration
I work with individuals and couples who are divorcing or dissolving their domestic partnership, and with unmarried couples who need help creating or changing a parenting plan. For couples intending to marry or live together, I prepare premarital agreements and cohabitation agreements.
After years of working within our combative legal system, I believe the system harms couples and families more than it helps them. I now choose to practice law in a way that I believe helps promote peaceful resolution of conflict. Using Mediation and Collaborative Divorce processes, I help resolve divorce-related conflicts around dividing property, paying child and spousal support, and sharing child custody. For unmarried parents who are struggling with coparenting issues, I help improve communication and facilitate the creation of a parenting plan that reduces disputes.
Additionally, I offer hourly consulting and coaching services to individuals who are in mediation or who choose to represent themselves in court. For couples planning to marry or cohabit, I use Mediation and Collaborative Practice to help couples avoid future conflict over finances and assets.
Before beginning work with any individual or couple, I provide an initial consultation to explain these process options and my fees. This first meeting allows me to learn about my client’s needs and interests. And at the end of this initial consultation, the client is better informed about the legal options, the costs, and the pacing of each process.
